2. Data processing when visiting the KIND websites
a. Log data (server log files)
When you visit our website, data on access to the website offer (so-called server log files) is automatically collected. These data include: Name of the web page called up, date and time of the call, url of the call, language of the browser, browser version, browser name, operating system of the user, mobile or desktop version, transferred data volume, message about successful call, referrer URL (the previously visited page), IP address and the requesting provider.
Purpose of data processing and duration of storage:
We use the log data only for statistical evaluations for the purpose of operation, security and optimization of the offer on these web pages.
The storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable the website to be delivered to the user's computer. For this purpose, the user's IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session. After the end of the session, the IP address remains stored in a shortened form.
The storage in log files is done to ensure the functionality of the website. In addition, the data is used to optimize the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. An evaluation of the data for marketing purposes does not take place in this context.
Legal basis of the data processing:
The legal basis for the processing of this data is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
b. Use of cookies & tracking technologies
Collected data:
When you visit the KIND website, so-called cookies are set. These are small text files that are stored on the user's end device. Cookies usually contain a so-called cookieID, a unique identification feature by which the user's browser can be identified.
Purposes of data processing:
KIND uses cookies only for the purpose of obtaining information about the use of the websites, for statistical purposes and to enable users to trace offers from KIND following their visit to the websites.
Legal basis of data processing:
The legal basis for the processing of data by means of cookies is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Fundamental to the duration of storage and control options of the user:
Cookies are stored on the user's computer and transmitted from there to KIND. Therefore, you also have full control over the use of cookies. Most browsers are automatically set to accept cookies. However, if you wish, you can configure your browser by changing your browser settings so that cookies are restricted or completely blocked. Cookies already stored can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically.
Comprehensive information on how this can be done on a variety of browsers can be found on the following Internet pages:
- Network Advertising Initiative Opt-Out Platform
- Digital Advertising Alliance Platform
These platforms allow users to make advertising settings for all registered companies. There you will also find information on how to delete cookies from your own computer and general information about cookies.
The transmission of flash cookies cannot be prevented by the browser settings, but by changing the settings of the flash player. You can find more information about this on the macromedia website.
For information on how to change these settings on the browser of a mobile phone, please refer to the operating instructions of the mobile phone in question.
If you deactivate cookies for the KIND web pages, you may no longer be able to use all functions of the web pages.
Detailed information on individual providers:
Below is a list of providers who are authorised to set cookies on our websites, including information on the possibly differing duration of storage and control options of the users:
Google Universal Analytics
The KIND websites use Google Universal Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). Google Universal Analytics sets cookies on the user's end device, which enable the KIND website to be analysed and data, sessions and interactions across multiple devices to be assigned to a pseudonymous user ID and thus to evaluate the activities of a user across devices. On behalf of KIND, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating the use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage for KIND.
We have extended Universal Analytics with the code "get._anonymizeIP();". This code causes Google to shorten your IP address and enables an anonymised evaluation. The information generated by the cookie is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. IP addresses are shortened within the EU or the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transferred to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by your browser within the framework of Google Analytics is not merged with other data from Google.
Sessions and campaigns are terminated after a certain period of time. By default, sessions are terminated after 30 minutes without activity and campaigns after six months. The time limit for campaigns can be a maximum of two years. Data sent by us and linked to cookies, user IDs (e.g. user ID) or advertising IDs are automatically deleted after 50 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month. Further information on terms of use and data protection can be found at: https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html and https://policies.google.com/.
You can prevent the storage of Universal Analytics cookies by adjusting your browser settings accordingly. This may restrict the functionality of the KIND websites. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser add-on available at the following link https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. To prevent Universal Analytics collection across devices, you must opt-out on all systems in use.
Please see the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en&gl=en) for more information.
Other Google advertising features implemented
In addition to the standard version of Google Analytics, we use the advertising feature Google Analytics reports on performance by demographic characteristics and interests. Google sets so-called double-click cookies on the user's browser for this purpose. These collect data on which third-party websites in the Google Display Network users have visited and which advertisements they have clicked on. With the help of these cookies, certain characteristics (e.g. age, gender, interests) are assigned to the users of KIND's websites. Users are not personally identified by KIND through these reports.
We use this information to better address our target groups.
You can prevent tracking by Google Analytics as described above. Further information can be found in the notes on data usage by Google when using websites of Google partners (https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites?hl=en).
Google Tag Manager
The KIND websites use the Google Tag Manager. This service allows website tags (small code elements on our websites, which among other things serve to measure visitor numbers and behaviour and to record the impact of online advertising and to test and optimise our website) to be managed via an interface. The Google Tag Manager only implements tags. This means that no cookies are used and no personal data is collected. The Google Tag Manager triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data. However, the Google Tag Manager does not access this data.
Google Maps
This site may use the Google Maps map service via an API. The provider is Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. To use the functions of Google Maps it is necessary to store your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. You can find more information on how we handle user data in the Google Privacy Policy.
Google Adwords Conversion Tracking
For the detection of user behaviour we use a so-called Adwords conversion pixel. Conversion tracking is a free tool that allows us to record what happens after a user clicks on our ad. This could be, for example, the purchase of a product, registration for a newsletter, a call to a company or the download of an app. It is possible that the IP address is transferred to the respective service. You can find more detailed information here: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722022?hl=en&ref_topic=3119146
You can permanently deactivate the use of cookies by Google by following the link below and downloading and installing the plug-in provided there: https://support.google.com/ads/answer/7395996?hl=en
KIND uses the product Website Custom Audiences from Facebook Inc, 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook") as a tracking tool.
This involves integrating a pixel on the website, which recognises return visitors and creates a usage profile. The pixel is used to generate a checksum (hash value) from the user's usage data, which is then transmitted to Facebook for analysis and marketing purposes.
KIND uses this information to place target-group-specific advertising on Facebook pages. If you wish to object to the use of Facebook Website Custom Audiences, you can do so at https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/.
Further information about the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as the settings options available to users to protect their privacy, can be found in the Facebook privacy policy, which can be found, among other things, at https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/ and https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.
Facebook Conversion Pixel
We use so-called "visitor action pixels" to recognize your user behavior. Conversion measurement allows us to track across devices (including mobile phones, tablets and desktop computers) what people do after they see our Facebook Ads. By creating a Facebook pixel and adding it to our pages where conversions are made (e.g., the Purchase Confirmation page), we can determine which people are making conversions based on our Facebook Ads. The pixel is used to track the actions that people take after clicking on our ads. It allows us to determine on which device our customers saw the ad and on which devices they ultimately performed the conversion. If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can also refuse the necessary setting of a cookie - for example, by changing your browser settings to generally disable the automatic setting of cookies.
Further information about the purpose and scope of data collection and the further processing and use of data by Facebook, as well as the settings options available to users to protect their privacy, can be found in Facebook's data protection guidelines, which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/ and https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation, among other places.
Microsoft Application Insights
On our Internet pages and for our Internet services we use Application Insights, a web analytics service provided by Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA ("Microsoft").
Application Insights places a cookie in the browser of the website visitor, which enables an analysis of the use of the website by you. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website is transferred to a Microsoft server in Europe and stored there. On our behalf as the website operator, Microsoft will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services related to website and Internet use. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of our website to their full extent.

d. YouTube
This website contains at least one plugin from YouTube, belonging to Google Inc. based in San Bruno/California, USA. As soon as you visit pages of our website equipped with a YouTube plugin, a connection to the servers of YouTube is established. This tells the YouTube server which specific page of our website you have visited. In addition, if you are logged into your YouTube account, you would enable YouTube to assign your surfing behavior directly to your personal profile. You can prevent this possibility of assignment if you log out of your account before. For more information about YouTube's collection and use of your information, please see their privacy policy at www.youtube.com.
Hotjar
For the purpose of website analysis, technologies provided by Hotjar Ltd, Level 2, St Julians Business Centre, 3, Elia Zammit Street, St Julians STJ 3155, Malta ("Hotjar") are used to automatically collect and store data (IP address, time of visit, device and browser information, and information about your use of our website), which is used to create usage profiles using pseudonyms.
